About the Course
1 Samuel is the third book in what is known as the historical portion the Old Testament. It picks up where the dark days of the Judges left off. Under the leadership of judges Israel drifted further and further from the ways of the Lord and the people of Israel along with them.
In this course we are going to learn about God’s patience and justice as He raises up Samuel to lead the people of Israel in a great transition from a theocracy to a monarchy in response to what the people had asked for, “appoint a king to judge/govern us like the other nations have.”
(1 Sam 8:5NAU)
Come join us as we learn about the life of Samuel, a prophet and judge, who followed God wholeheartedly and about the first two kings of Israel, Saul, and David. Through the stories of these three leaders, we will learn about standing with righteous boldness in the midst of dark times; the cost of disobedience, pride, and the fear of man; and what transpires when a leader clings to the love and mercy of the Lord His God and remains.
