BI-309 Judges

Sep 11, 2023 - Nov 13, 2023

Details

Mon. 6:00pm - 8:00pm Zoom Only The Book of Judges stands in stark contrast to Joshua. In Joshua the Israelites conquered the land through trust in the power of God and obeying His voice. However, in Judges, we see the Israelitesā€™ disobedience bringing them to a place of being overcome by their enemies and as they became an idolatrous people. In this class we will learn about what the Lord can do through trust and obedience and the sadness and defeat which follows rebellion against God and his ways. The Book of Judges shows how Israel set aside Godā€™s law and everyone did ā€œwhat was right in his own eyes.ā€ The recurring result of abandoning Godā€™s law became corruption from within and oppression from without. During the nearly four centuries spanned by this book, God raised up military champions who threw off the yoke of bondage and cycles of sin and brought salvation and restoration of pure worship. In this course we will focus on ten lessons in leadership in the Book of Judges. We will examine the lessons learned not only from the accounts of their successes, but also learn what not to do from their failures. We will allow the Lord to challenge us and help us to grow in our Christian walk and ministries through their stories. As we open our hearts and minds to the truths in this book, we are going to trust God to challenge us and lead us in character development and wisdom.
